The "Thriller"' singer is in New York to be photographed for the cover of Italian Vogue magazine and spent hours having his hair styled to perfection.
A source told the New York Post newspaper: "Jackson has been holed up in a fancy Midtown hotel since Thursday (09.13.07) afternoon with an enormous entourage."
"Since he arrived he has only left once, at 5am, to take part in the 10-hour shoot for Italian Vogue."
"Before he left he spent three hours in the hairdressers chair getting his hair done."
"That's longer than any supermodel took getting their hair done for New York Fashion Week."
Jackson has long been rumored to wear a wig, with numerous photographs showing what appears to be a weave on his hairline.
The eccentric star famously burnt his hair after his locks accidentally caught fire while he was filming a Pepsi advert in 1984.
Jackson is believed to be appearing in a sprawling spread in the fashion bible, however, it is yet to be confirmed by Vogue.
